Library Education Section
The Education Section provides a forum for the exchange of ideas relating to library education. It works cooperatively with the Continuing Education Committee to promote continuing education for practicing librarians and library science educators in the Southeast.
Public Libraries Section
The Public Library Section provides leadership for the general improvement and expansion of public library services to all ages in all types of communities through discussion, programs, and workshops. At the SELA Biennial Conference, programs are organized which are of interest to public librarians and other interested librarians.
The Reference and Public Services Section
The Reference and Public Services Section seeks to actively foster the fullest use of all media in meeting the educational, research, informational, recreational and social interests, and needs of users in all types of libraries and subject fields. This section of SELA cooperates with similar groups within ALA and community and educational organizations whose activities relate to public services in libraries.
Resources and Technical Services Librarians Section
The Resources and Technical Services Librarian Section discusses subjects, topics and problems that are common to those working in the technical services areas of libraries. At SELA's Biennial Conference, the Resources and Technical Services Librarian Section organizes a workshop that is slanted toward the interests of the majority of members.
School and Children's Librarians Section
The School and Children's Librarian Section participates in the promotion of the school library standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It also works to improve the education for librarianship, and the employment of library supervisors in the state departments of education.
Special Libraries Section
The Special Libraries Section of SELA provides librarians with the opportunity to exchange ideas and information through meetings, workshops, seminars, and other means of communication. Also, the Special Libraries Section helps to promote the development of special librarianship in the Southeast.
Trustees and Friends of Libraries Section
The Trustees and Friends of the Library Section promotes libraries and library services through continuing education by means of workshops and the SELA Biennial Conference. It helps to focus public attention on library services, facilities and needs.
University and College Library Section
At SELA's Biennial Conference, the University and College Library Section organizes program(s) on topic(s) of concern to academic librarians. This section provides a forum for the exchange of ideas relating to academic librarianship.
