Job Description/Duties:

Western Kentucky University seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Library Technical Services. This is a 10-month tenure-track faculty position. Anticipated starting date is July 2010. Responsibilities include: original and complex copy cataloging and classification of monographs and continuing resources in natural and applied sciences; shared responsibility for foreign language materials and authority file maintenance; participation in special cataloging projects as needed; departmental web page development and maintenance.

Requirements: MLS from an ALA-accredited program with a degree in the natural or applied sciences; skill with current and developing cataloging and metadata rules and standards, LC subject headings and classification, authority control, and MARC formats through coursework or job experience; reading knowledge of a foreign language; working knowledge of OCLC and an integrated library system; ability to communicate and interact effectively. Must be able to meet the promotion and tenure criteria of the department.

Salary: $40,000
